Read that the other day... and I agree with the opinion of most pixel artists... its a frustrated rant from someone who can't take criticism.

I certainly agree Drakker, I take that as the overall dramatic instance on the article.
It fits the "Structure of George Polti's 36 Dramatic Situations" well fine but,

there is a good description of an indie team trying out somethings together for a while.
We all know that what makes a game itself is not the visuals alone but the game itself.
Apart from that, releasing an article of your game is always a good propaganda.

In this case, I enjoyed the information they shared outside the drama.
It is a very relevant info to me, the direction their company is taking visual wise when money is the concern.
