Robot Controller

Postby Skyrunner65 » Mon Mar 24, 2014 4:30 pm

Let me show you:

Gamebuino
*Gamebuino boots up*
*Chooses RoboControl*
*Asks for a frequency(?)*
*Shows "Connecting...", followed by "Connected!"*
*Shows Config, Player configures to liking*

Robot with Arduino
*Turns on*
*waits for Gamebuino*

Both
Player presses up, robot goes forward.
Player presses "A", robot does command.

I think this would be pretty cool, and maybe use it for a game(Robot battles, No health = No response, sends "Victory!" to winner, "You Lost! to loser).

all u need is a radio or ir transceiver

it be cool if the game be compatible with the lego robot stuff, idk if kids still get those these days

I can't really pay for a full robot set/parts, so there's that. I thought that the Gamebuino could be used for a universal controller, so you don't have to pay for a transmitter for every robot that you have.
Just a receiver or something.

wel im talking about a module, gamebuino has no radio build in
and most robots work compleetly different and may have sensors wich can be send back that why u need a transceiver on the gamebuino side

im sure u can find a cheap rc or ir controled robot for 30 or so bucks in shops

I know, but what if people have Custom Arduino robots? That's gotta be compatible, right?
Besides, If it is like video or something, then that could be ignored. But a regular sensor(Collision) could be used for robot battle.

i think if u want robot battle arduino, we going to howe to make our own setup (own standard comunication) with like a minimum of parts, i can see that work but wel u need to have fair robots, or find a existing system that can do so, since moste combat robots dont send stuff back

but that realy has to be worked out, again the gamebuino is compatible as a controlor (may want to add analog stick to it if ur dealing with robot controles)

Whoa, this is just a thought, and I know nothing of code, except how to read and change variables( and what it does when I change them). Would I need to add anything to the robot so the Gamebuino can communicate with it.

it depends on the robot and how lockt down it is

example again going to lego, atleast the old ones did everything over IR so u dont have to change anythign on the robot side but u need to understand its comunication protocal

but problem is for every robot it can be compleetly different, some are reprogramable out of the box (see arduino robot) some are totaly not (anything from wowwee for example)

wel yea i think most robots are expensive, and yea i know lego makes it more expensive with all the plastic parts

but hey lets try make our own, im curently using sparkfun just cuz there comon (other stores are available)

that be $45.70 witout shipping
i know it needs some extra little parts and glue but il round those of to around 5 bucks
so thats slightly over 50 for the "base" robot that can drive and comunicate
