Great game you have here, and I have two suggestions:

1. Slime - Jumps on the player (Maybe shoot slimeballs?)

2. Music
I'll have to try my hand at it, but we need something that gets the player PUMPED.
List of music tracks:
  • Boss Music
  • Victory
  • Stage Music
  • Title/Menu Screen?

Feel free to use the slime, I'll give the non-scaled version.

EDIT: Thanks for showing me FARG, I like it a lot!
Hope this has multiplayer too :)
EDIT #2: I'm trying to make some music, but your "Music Demo" 's use of Hexadecimal confuses me.

Thanks the inspiration guys ! :)
I think I was not clear, the player is 6x8, but the weapon is overlayed and can be bigger. Marcus I was surprised to see what your can fit in such a small space, well done, I'm sure it can be used in future games.

Oh, I see :-) With the weapon outside the sprite size it is easier :-)
I really like your design with the charging, awesome! The blocky guys look really good. Keep up the great work.

Great graphics.
Where is the download, though?

I will wait for the game to have more maturity before I share the files, as the code keep changing.

Next step step is now to add gameplay elementsscore counting, crates, levels...).

Think I could design a few levels?
Give me some time, though.
Also, will the crates contain ammo, weapons, or both?

EDIT: How big will the tiles be?
Also, are you doing a tile-based map system?

New update \o/
- pick up a crate to score a point and have a new weapon
- score counting and saving
- several maps
- several tiles sets
- game balancing

To do:
- Weapons and map unlocking with score
- More maps - If anyone want to give it a try, the maps are monochrome bitmaps (so you can use the bitmap encoder), with no size constrain. Leave a 2 tiles hole at the center of the top of the map for the mobs to spawn. The tiles are defined at run time depending on neighborhood.
- More tile-sets - The only one that look good is the one I took from Jamish's platformer (it's just here as a place holder, Jamish please tell me if you want me to remove your tile-set). Anyone want to give a try to 6x6 tile-set ? I'm pretty bad at this :( It requires the following blocks : wall, platform, platform edge (see the gif below).
- Better graphics, animations
- Balancing
- Coop mode ?

This time with the source and hex file as it's playable now.

So it's 6x6 tiles?
okay, I'll see what I can do.
EDIT: Made some crates (I was trying to make tiles, but they looked more like crates, sooo...)

The left could be for Ammo, the middle for health, and the right for lives/invincibility.
(The left, with display persistence, could make the inside grey)

Go ahead and use it! All I ask is that you credit me--even if it's just a link to my github in a comment in the source code. No need to include my name in-game!
