Nice! Looking forward to playing it :-)
I loved MK on my gameboy when I was young :-) And SF... And Barbarian (CPC)...

I don't want to interrupt anything, but I made a few SF-ish sprites a while back, never finished them (missing inbetweens, missing moves of a few characters, not made a palette yet with white, gray-to-black, gray-to-white, transparency, white border...).

I loved the backgrounds in SF, MK, but of course this would be hard to reproduce on the 84x48 b/w screen. I experimented with a foreground type of thing, but at only 11-13 pixel height it leaves little space for details, plus I do not know if something like cheering crowds and such would be possible without introducing lag.

The sprites are about as big (I used 8x11 as in my other game mockups). Pretty hard to squeeze detail in such little sprites...

Marcus, your characters are super small, yet very recognizable! I like them.
King of fighters for the neo geo pocket could also be inspiring.

I made a mock of Karateka a while ago that could also help.
here it is:

All your mockup and artwork are very beautiful!

But I like the style Stick man :)

Quirby64 I would like to make a multiplayer game, for this I need a menu in game for choice multiplayer Or single player.

I think, if you are OK, to make a artwork of this menu like this : (all proposition are accepted ;) )

Image

the stick man in the left are the cursor, idle when is not selected and kick when you press A button.

I share the code on github rapidly !

thx for your reply

Oh okey :-) Good luck! Looking forward to it.

@Erico:

Thanks :-)

That looks amazing, impressive what details a few more pixel allow. I suppose that size would still work well :-)

i checked out the SF Gameboy sprites, they are still way too large. But they could be resized to 50%. But that would mean a LOT of drawing to get the same smooth animation :-)

Anyway,

Sometimes keeping it simple is better :-)

Also, digging from my CHR art folder, I long ago did a mock of street fighter.
While each pixel has 8x12 size, the whole image if reduced to 1 pixel size, would end up being 64x32, so, smaller then gamebuino.
That size may give space to work out borders and slightly bigger sprites when considering only 2 colors.
Hope it helps somehow.

EDIT: oh, I didn´t see the answers to the posts. Ok, stick is way faster and better to animate.
Should you want a quick tool to try pixels on the go, you may also check this one here: http://www.piskelapp.com/
Cheers!

Neat!
Yeah, color can add a lot of detail, it looks amazing. Speaking of color to create detail, http://epic4chan.tumblr.com/post/508404 ... -12-pixels :-)
Many NES sprites use color to ad detail, while when drawing monochrome, outlines are necessary "wasting pixel space".

Oi! Quite a bit has happened in this day :D
Might as well answer some posts -
Skyrunner65: Well, Crabator is always overhead, so adding some dots for eyes and calling it Crabator might work.

EDIT : I got it. We make him a cheat...if clement wants to.
Clement:A menu? Hm. Maybe something like this?
ImageImageImage
Just added options in case things come up like credits or difficulty
EDIT2: Clement if you want me to do your idea i'll do it :D
