BigBlackBox is now available!

Postby STUDIOCRAFTapps » Mon Dec 05, 2016 1:06 am

BigBlackBox

Type: Puzzle, Platformer, WallJump, UnlockableLevels.

Note: The game should be done before December 18th.

About the game:
- What's included?
A cool 8-bit platformer and puzzle game with great pixel art style. With only two colors and a four channel speaker, we can do a lot. The game

- Bounce, Slide, Jump, Kick, Repeat.
BigBlackBox has cool new physics, no more linear actions. The collision system is unique, the player has 32bit of freedom wich give a hi- precision player position.

- Not done yet!
When the game will be release, BigBlackBox won't stop his development. With time and passion, there'll be some update to make the game better. I'm probably going to create an algorithm that analyzes the size and the content of all level if you've finished the 13 levels, the game will challenge you to finish the entire level with a time limit determined by the algorithm. Also, maybe, one day, BigBlackBox2 will be available.

Story:
An evil scientist decides to develop a recipe that transforms the happy citizen of UnderCity into evil white minions, you are the only survivor. There's a cure, on the other side of the city.

You can record GIFs using Myndale's Simbuino (see Emulators). Then when you post (or edit you post), click on "upload attachment", select you file and then "insert inline".

For the gif for Armageddon, I made one the hard way because I didn't want to install .NET. I used the HTML5 emulator to play the game, and recorded the browser window with OBS. I cropped the video with avidemux, and then split it into 835 png images with ffmpeg. I then imported all the frames into GIMP and exported them as an animated gif. I think I didn't get the framerate exactly right, so the gif speed is a little off. Obviously this is a lot of work and a bit silly, but there is a way to make one if you can find the right applications. All of the programs I mentioned can run on OS X.

Slow? You're not to first to say to the game is slow but want kind of slow? The movement? The fps? The movements look ok to me, I let my play my game to about 7 people and almost everybody say that it was hard to understand but fluid to play. If it's the fps... My Gamebuino run it ok and the emulator too. I can speed up the player but it will scrap my level design, every level has been tested and verified to be fair... But I'm happy that it work, i've started the developpement of the game around Halloween and i'm so happy that my project is going to be done.

And for the gif... I'll receive a Hard disk, it will allow me to run Windows on Mac because 128Go is not that much to run both...

Also, what is Console Block? It's a vvvvveeeeeerrrrryyyy Unity3d computer game, basically, it's a not-align blocky style game (a bit like Minecraft but the blocks are not aligned correctly with each other):

Console Block is a "Sandbox" type game where you need to use programming and construction to advance your world, for example, to make a vehicle, build wheel, engine, tie a steering wheel and a seat. For your vehicle to work, why not add a batteries that stores solar energy? To be able to control all this, you need a console, program it so that it receives information from the steering wheel to be able to control the four engines that advance your vehicle. From pumps to the joystick to loudspeakers and mechanical arms there is everything you need! All that remains is to survive the rain of meteorite or the wild animals ... What will be your next adventure?

If you want to see some gameplay part: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9YPqCDYT5z1gMu9LyxO7iw(This game just have 1 years of development and these video are very old, a lot of progress have been made since the beggining of the developpement).
