Audio streaming off SD card

Postby Myndale » Sun Apr 06, 2014 9:57 am

Decided to have a some fun with Gamebuino tonight and coded up this little demo, not bad for a speaker that's only 13mm across!

I'll upload full source code to the Wiki over the next hour or so.

(@ all) Could you please use royalty free music in your videos?
This video was automatically flagged for using unlicensed music and is not available in germany.

Besides that - keep up the good work. It is always nice to see some actual footage of the device.

You'll never stop to surprise me, well done , Sir. Does it leave some free CPU time to be able to play a (simple) game in the meanwhile?

Here is another great source for royalty free music of all sorts:

@myndale
It would be very interesting to see the how much performance the player requires. Would it be faster if you included the raw data into the source file (e.g. for speech or other sound samples)?

I increased the size of my buffers to 256 bytes and found I could execute around 10 million cycles of assembly instructions each second while the music was playing, so the player and the SD streaming together account for somewhere around 35-40% of CPU cycles.

Now I'm really excited to play DDR on the go with 8-bit sound tracks.
