[SOLVED] Driver Confusion!

For problems with Gamebuino itself, NOT your project

I thought to mention that microsoft rolled back working drivers on the chip and the chip creators are to provide a less agreasive solution some days to come.

This is a really interesting subject. I never thought a company would take such a low resolution.

Are you sure, where did you find that? That's some good news!

Hackaday ran an article about it this morning along with more details about how the original update was able to detect the fakes:

I also read it on several German news sites, so hopefully this is being resolved soon.

I can add that, after you've done the hack in that video, that the FT_Prog thing will scan and find your knockoff FTDI chip, at which point it reprograms fine (allowing it to work right on other OSes, for instance) What a pain! I feel bad for Rodot, who's probably got a lot of emails complaining about it.

I was going to use an FTDI chip in my own AVR console, but not now!

Hello there,

I haven't been affected by the FTDI chip killer driver when it came out, but since a few days back I noticed that all my Gamebuinos USB ports stopped working, and the PID went to 0000... any of you have heard of this driver coming back ? I thought the driver was removed from Windows Update.

PS: I made sure all the FTDI chips are genuine in the coming Gamebuino batch. There is so many counterfeits around that it's difficult to know either it's genuine or not. I'm really sorry about that issue.
