I connected an external speaker to my gamebuino just for funzies, and in doing so, I accidentally shorted the 3V and Ground, but it restarted and it worked just fine. Now, my speakers are a lot deeper sounding and have a metallic rattle. Did I accidentally blow them out? Also, can rodot or someone provide me with a link to buy a new one if it IS damaged?

Are we talking Demon-like levels of deepness or what?
Also, the link is the "SHOP" button in the header of the page.

Yeah, REALLY deep. They sound like a batman with a cough. Also, no speakers on the shop page

I had that issue of a speaker having a metallic rattle, I changed it and the problem was gone. You can find some cheap speakers on ebay, use the keywords "
oval speaker 1w". Just check that it fits the available space (about 20*12mm max).

Thanks for the tip Rodot. I think I blew the speaker in my first Gamebuino in a similar manner....hooked up an external programmer and 1) didn't disconnect the ICSP power pin and 2) forgot to switch it from 5V to 3.3V
I checked the schematics and as far as I can tell the speaker is the one component that isn't protected from over-voltage.

Yep the speaker is directly connected to the battery to output the maximum volume... so you can burn them if you're not careful

Funny thing... As I wait for the new speakers to come in, my broken one seems to be 'healing'. Sound is getting better, but quieter. Very, very interesting...

Thats odd. Maybe, just maybe the magnet got over-magnetized with the short, but now playing sounds through it are "re-magnetizing" it, back to normal..
