"Buino you love it": graphics+sound (chiptune) demo

Postby cyberic » Sun Jun 14, 2015 7:00 pm

Hi!

We are The Other Days, and we have just finished working on our first attempt to do chiptune on gamebuino!
Sound-wise, we tried to use the gamebuino lib as deeply as we could.
What do you think?

More info, sources, .HEX, .BIN are here

WARNING: This is compiled with the v1 lib.
We couldn' t port it to lib v2, because my gamebuino burned just after I shoot the video...
I have to order another one!
The code is available, so if someone could recompile and test it on lib v2, it could be great!

Did you do it using Myndale's composer (you are working with him on the development right ?), or using the old excel spreadsheets ?
Anyway it's awesome, I'm impressed by what you managed to do with the sound library :)

Thx for your comments!

Unfortunately, the work with myndale didn't get too far...
We used the old excel format, but we coded our own 'song writer'.
It wasn't easy to do create a great song, because high pitched notes tended to be a detuned, and because we only had square waves... (The noise wasn't relly useful for the purpose).
But the chords were useful.
We also used the fast sprite routine from myndale.
I will get another gamebuino soon and compile against lib v2.

I'd really wish that jonnection could complete his tracker!

PS: should we add the 'demo' to the wiki as well?
