Can't turn on

Tobi Sat Mar 28, 2015 3:57 pm
Hello,

I think my Gamebuino is broken :(

I can't turn it on. I have loaded the battery a few hours. But if I want to turn the Gamebuino without USB connection on: Nothing happens.

If I connect is with USB and I turn the GB on, the lights are flickering. Sometimes I see the menu with some pixels. But then it is flickering again and the screen is blank.

What can I do? I see that the on/off Button was on, before I load the battery again. Perhaps the battery is broken? (I have nothing here to solder for e.g. a new battery).

Thanks from Germany! :)

Hi, do you hear a startup sound of any kind?
Tobi Sat Mar 28, 2015 10:31 pm
No, nothing :(

Have you tried holding down C for some time while turning it on and then leaving it in the on position for like a min or so?

Yes and if I turn Gamebuiono on, the power led is not on, too :/

Hey,
I'm sorry to hear you have trouble with you Gamebuino. It stopped working for no apparent reason ? Can you check the battery voltage with a voltmeter ? Does it turn on when it's plugged in ?
Tobi Sun Mar 29, 2015 8:39 pm
Hey rodot, don't worry! :)
I don't used the Gamebuino for a few month. Now I want to play some new games. Want to turn it on, nothing happens. At the first time I was thinking the battery is empty. But I have loaded it some hours :/
When I plugged the USB cable in and turn the GB on, the screen and battery led is flickering.

But ... what can I do now?

Can you check the battery voltage ? Please answer me through the online shop so we can find a solution. I want to make sure each Gamebuinian has a nice experience with his/her console :)

Same Problem here :D

It seems that the battery died.

USB does not deliver enoght power to keep the Gamebuino awake :/
While connected to USB the battery full LED in active.
And I can't compile + flash the loader. ( seems to work with the press C method from SDcard )

I have the same problem. Will try to solder a new battery tomorrow and report then.

Edit: Installed new battery, problem solved.

same problem for me.

If the screens blinks when you try to turn your Gamebuino ON, it's because there isn't enough juice left in the battery to keep it ON. If after being plugged in for one hour it's still the case, then it means that the battery died, probably because it was left uncharged for too long. It's better to charge LiPo battery every now and then to avoid them to die (same applies for smartphones). You can replace the battery with any LiPo 3.7V of at least 200mAh (you can salvage some from RC copters or phones). Make sure it fits in the case, or make a custom case ;)

Hey! Rodot! It's been too long, I see everything's nice and done...

Well, off to my question - I haven't turned on my gamebuino in two years. (Yes, it's one of the original indigogo ones) - I kinda forgot about it for two years. I'm experiencing the same problem as Tobi - so will LiPo batteries die over time if they're not used? Does this mean we'll have to replace the batteries every so often?

And yes, I've finally fished my gamebuino outta the closet. Still pristine... mostly.

Hey!
Well, you should top up your battery every few months for it not to die, because of the residual discharge that will empty it. LiPo don't like to be over-discharged. It's something I working to solve on the next revision of Gamebuino.
