Invaders from Space- now with sound!
yodasvideoarcade Tue Jul 29, 2014 10:30 pm
Here's my finished Invaders-game! It now has dedicated sound-effects.
It's a full working port of the arcade-game, with invaders, bombs, saucer and multiple levels. Have fun playing! Only sound is missing, since there's no explaination of the commands on the Wiki-page yet.

You can download it from the "games" page.
If you like it, I'd be happy to recieve some comments and donations on Paypal to yoda@yodasvideoarcade.com

I agree, the wiki could use some sound examples, I'm using
myself, they doo their job pretty well. Oh and thanks for the game, it looks awesome, I'll test it out right away.

Cool, yet another new game! :D
Yeah for now there is no documentation about sound because the library was still evolving few weeks ago. Since then I've been assembling and shipping Gamebuino Perks so I didn't had a chance to write it. And the sound library don't only need documentation, it also needs a composer, that's gonna take some time as I'm a newbie to Java.

Great Game, nice Work!
EDIT: Here are Binaries, for anyone who is unable/too lazy to compile.

Your Game entry don't match the entry RULES !
You have to add a Hex file in 8:2 Format and a ELF!
download_url should link to a .zip containing at least:

Images.ino and Invaders.ino have to be in the same directory!
You get this error becouse, the entry dont match the entry rules.
Klotzfisch Wed Jul 30, 2014 12:47 pm Re: Invaders from Space
Both have been in the same directory. I merged the content from images.ino into invaders.ino and now it works. Why did you split them up into two files?

Can you tell me where to find the .hex on Mac?

or search your filesystem for *.hex ;) in the same dir is also the elf file

No working solution on these pages. The one I tried deleted my whole desktop! Fortunately I have a time-machine-backup.
Problem ist, even if I change the location of the compiling-folder, it still deletes it's contents directly, so I can't get the .hex files.
Can someone send me the .hex and .whatever files so I can include them in the .zip? Thanks!!

Fixed! Found a way to change the compile-path and also removed the delete-after-compile in the preferences, so I can access the .hex files now. Uploaded an updated version.
BTW, anyone who is on Mac and wants to change these preferences: You have to alt-click GO TO to view this library-folder. If you change the compile-folder, make sure to not change it to some folder that has other contents, since it deletes the contents of the folder after compiling. This deleted my whole desktop!

Yoda you would have to have one of the highest signal-to-noise ratios of any member of a game-related board that I've been on, you consistently churn out really good work! This rendition is particularly good though, especially given the limited resources of the target platform. I was using it to test my emulator because it's one of the few games with decent sound, but I had to switch to another game because I kept getting distracted and playing it instead. That was also after my 3-year-old walked in and saw it and insisted on taking over the computer....which was the end of that particular coding session!

Yoda, your output is impressive, both from a quantitative and qualitative point of view.
Great job on your Space Invaders! Your arcade ports are really accurate, down to the sounds used.
